Common Questions
Questions about communication
The questions customers actually type — and the questions they now ask an AI assistant. Answered directly, and marked up so the answer can be quoted.
What is a squawk box system on a rig?
A squawk box is a hands-free industrial intercom. Royal’s zone-rated system provides reliable voice communication across drilling, offshore, and other hazardous industrial areas, and is built for rapid deployment.
How do crews communicate over rig noise?
Royal’s IP intercom system uses advanced digital noise cancellation to isolate voices from heavy machinery, keeping hands-free communication clear in extremely loud environments.
What does intrinsically safe mean for a two-way radio?
An intrinsically safe radio is designed so it cannot release enough energy to ignite a hazardous atmosphere. Royal supplies two-way radio systems in intrinsically safe and weatherproof configurations for drilling, offshore, and industrial work.
Can I watch my rig cameras from the office?
Yes. Royal supplies the internet connection and ties the camera system into it, which enables remote viewing and remote monitoring stations for authorized users.
Does Royal provide internet service without cameras?
Yes — internet-only service is available on request, for projects of any size.
